but it's not the only reason!
The truth is your not going to hell because your a sinner. There has been an ideology over the past several hundred years that were all going to hell because we are sinners, to this I would argue this ideology as misleading. Let's look at scripture and examine what God said just after Adam and Eve ate (sinned) of the forbidden fruit;
Genesis 4:16-17
To the woman He said: "I will greatly multiply your sorrow and your conception; In pain you should bring forth children; Your desire shall be for your husband, And he shall rule over you."
Then to Adam He said, "Because you have heeded the voice of your wife, and have eaten from the tree of which I commanded you, saying. "You shalll not eat of it'. "Cursed is the ground for your sake; In toil you shall eat of it All the days of your life.
Now, where in the above verses does it state your going to hell because of your sin, nowhere, sin is not even discussed in any of the above verses. Let's examine some other scriptures:
Genesis 4:22-24
Then the Lord God said, "Behold, the man has become like one of us, to know good and evil. And now, lest he put out his hand and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live forever" (23) therefore the Lord God sent him out of the garden of Eden to till the ground from which he was taken. (24) So He drove out the man; and He placed cherubim at the east of the garden of Eden, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to guard the way to the tree of life.
In examining the above scriptures I still do not see any text that claims because of the sin of eating the forbiden fruit man was bound for hell. The verses do state that man was now seperated from God, the seperation was actually protected by a cherubim and flaming sword. God had too place the cherubim and sword there because of His love for us. I would contend that His love for us would have drawn Him to man and He could not allow that to happen, why?
I believe the reason we are going to hell is because of the following statement by God. Let's examine;
Genesis 2:16-17
Then the Lord took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to tend and keep it. (16) And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, " Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; (17) "but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die."I believe the reason were going to hell is because of this verse (17) "but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die"
I believe eating of the tree made man mortal, and given unto death because of his mortality. I believe hell is death as it is stated throughout all of scripture and that hell is truly being seperated from God. Sin is not going to send you to hell, staying seperated from God is hell.
Our loving God knew there was only one way to allow man to re-connect himself to Him and that was through death and a resurrection. God did not condemn man to hell for his sin, he has condemned man to hell for seperating himself from God. I know there are those who will claim sin will destin you to hell because it is sin which has seperated man from God and to this I would claim that it is being un-repentive that keeps you seperated from God, not sin.
Please if sin was going to keep you from God the first time you sinned He would have smote you and me dead. God loves each of us so much He sacrificed His only begotten son so we would not perish, nowhere does the scripture claim He was sacrificed so you or I would never sin again. You will go to hell because your seperated from God, your seperated from God because of your lack of faith in Jesus Christ.
Please, the muslim faithful pray for forgiveness of their sins each and everyday, at least five times a day and I believe God forgives them, however, they STILL HAVE NO RIGHT to enter heaven, why? They are not re-connected to God through Jesus Christ, period. Folks, anyone can forgive you of your sins, but not everyone can forgive you of your sins and give you the keys to heaven, there is only ONE, the alpha and the omega, the King of kings and the Lord of lords.
God forgave Adam and Eve for their sins when he sacrificed an animal and covered their sins, however, there was only one way to RECONNECT TO GOD and that is JESUS CHRIST. He is the only way to be re-connected to God. You must accept Him as your Lord and Saviour to re-establish yourself with the Father in heaven. There are many who will forgive you of your sins, but, there is only one who holds the keys.
